It's Friday. You've had a long day of work. Your kids have had a long day at work. It's winter, and the outside world is pretty uninviting. Takeout food is awesome at any point, but it was made for moments like these.

With a delicious takeout meal, you can forget about having to make something for dinner, and instead simply curl up on the couch with your family and watch a movie. It's a Friday night that everyone enjoys.

Unless you live in a deeply rural town, there'll be no shortage of delicious takeout options on the table either. In this post, we'll run through some of the best cuisines for family Friday nights at home. All you'll need to do is pick a great movie to watch, and you'll have the perfect start to the weekend.

Pizza

Pizza is the classic takeout cuisine. After all, it has some qualities that other cuisines just can't match. It's delicious, both kids and adults love it, and there are a near-endless number of options. Your picky-eating child might choose a margarita pizza, while you and your partner might share something a little more adventurous, such as a spicy sausage pizza. Ordering pizza also means minimal mess, since you can eat straight from the box. Throw in a large bottle of coke and ice cream for dessert, and you'll have had a meal that puts a smile on everyone's face.

Takeout Burgers

Takeout burgers are a bit like pizza: they're delicious, customizable, and highly filling. There aren't too many people who don't get excited when the prospect of ordering hamburgers is put on the table! If you're particularly hungry, then you can always add fries or nuggets to the order, too. Just be aware that you'll need to order from a top-rated burger place. Since it's possible to make great burgers at home, ordering from a low-quality burger joint is a waste of money!

Chinese Cuisine

Chinese cuisine is a good family option since it allows you to try multiple dishes at the same time. Many Chinese takeout restaurants offer family-size sharing platters that include noodles, rice, spring rolls, and specialty dishes. It's a fun option for families who want to expose their children to foods from around the world.

Mexican

Mexican food can be a little messy, sure, but that's part of the fun - just be sure to keep the spicy stuff away from your children. When in doubt, stick to nachos and burritos. If you have older children, then you can slowly introduce them to the spicier dishes on the menu.

Indian/Thai

Indian and Thai curries are full of flavor and can be highly filling. It's an acquired taste, so it's best avoided if you have young children, but it is a good option for families with older kids. There's also a near-endless number of dish options, too. Just be sure to order from a place that has good reviews, since low-quality Indian/Thai food can put off a newcomer for life if you're not careful!
