Rebecca loves sunflower seeds — in fact, one year I put a bag of them in her Christmas stocking because she likes them so much.
A few years ago we toasted the seeds from a pumpkin we carved, and not surprisingly she loved those two and really wanted to do it again this year.
So yesterday she picked out a pumpkin at the grocery store and cut off the top, scooped out the seeds, and baked them all by herself.
She added some salt and butter to them and baked them in the oven on a cookie sheet (I’m not sure for how long). They were pretty good and would make good “TV food,” kind of like snacking on popcorn.
It made me wonder what kinds of variations you could do with that. For example, would adding some cinnamon or nutmeg work well? A little bit of sugar, maybe? Rebecca didn’t think so. She liked them just fine they way they were.
