Escaping the Banality of the Suburbs

I haven’t had anything remotely resembling a vacation in eight months. No trips to the beach, no overnight getaways, no visiting relatives for a day or two … nothing.
“If I don’t go somewhere, I think I’m going to lose my mind!” I announced to everybody on Saturday morning.
Rebecca was the only other family member that seemed to share this sentiment at all, so the two of us decided to take the train into the city and walk around an area known as a hippie district.

There were some really neat vintage clothing shops there. We didn’t buy anything, but we had an awful lot of fun looking.

One shop had a lot of funky sunglasses. I figured it was okay to post this picture of Rebecca since it’s sort of like she’s wearing a mask. 🙂

This was the closest we got to actually trying any clothes on.

There were shoes galore! We both got a kick out of a lot of the styles.

So … not exactly a vacation, but it satisfied my need to do something interesting and to see something other than my own house and the inside of the local grocery store and the same old things I see over and over and over.
And it’s okay because … we have an upcoming awesome vacation planned! But I will save that for another post.
