Birds at Rebecca’s Animal Camp

Last week Rebecca attended day camp at an animal shelter, along with her friend Breanne. She loved it — they walked dogs, worked at a horse stable, took care of bunnies, and learned about animal body language and the difference between getting a pet from a shelter versus a breeder.

On the last day they had a bird presentation right before the families showed up for a slideshow and tour of the shelter, so we got to see the birds as well.

Apparently birds can be a great pet, but most people don’t understand what they’re getting into when they get a bird. For one thing, he said, birds are prey animals instead of predators (like dogs and cats are), so the psychology is very different.
I’m not sure exactly what that means, but I did find it interesting.
