I’m very out of touch with current TV. I have no idea what a Game of Thrones is, and have never seen Downton Abbey (although I would like to). The only current thing I ever watch is Shark Tank (which I love).
But I have my old favorites that I watch again and again.
One of them, of course, is Seinfeld. I’m not sure how this started, but the kids and I started going through seasons seven and eight, usually an episode while we have lunch and maybe sometime another one in the evening. (Don’t worry; I skip certain episodes, like The Rye.)
One interesting thing about watching it with the kids is that you realize how dated certain things are. I had to explain what “speed dial” was, and … something else I can’t think of right now. Some of the plots wouldn’t exist in today’s world, where a cell phone would have solved the problem within 30 seconds.
Benjamin really liked this scene, and of course he doesn’t even know the original song:
Seinfeld — George’s Answering Machine
Here’s a classic scene from season eight:
Seinfeld — The Little Kicks
And I think Jerry Stiller is hilarious as Frank Costanza, especially in this scene:
Seinfeld — George is Dead
I’m not sure if I want to go onto season nine or not. I don’t remember many of the details, but I do remember really disliking “The Blood,” “The Butter Shave,” and some others when they first aired.
