Scenes From a Mall

The mall is not exactly one of my favorite places to go, but we had to exchange something at the Apple Store. A couple of the kids’ friends live on that side of town, so I picked them up first, we all went to the mall together before bringing everybody back to our house for the rest of the day.

They have a “Japanese Store” at the mall, which the girls wanted to go to right away.

Hello Kitty Stuff!

They bought Pocky — some sort of Japanese candy — and Rebecca bought a Totoro shirt.

Pocky — the girls love this!

Then I let the kids go their own way for thirty minutes while I headed to the department store where I used to work as a pianist a few years ago. I was delighted to see that the piano was “unoccupied,” and sat down to play a little bit.

I played this song (which I absolutely love):

Regina Specktor — Samson

And then I played this song (which I played at a wedding a few months ago):

Five for Fighting — 100 Years

Aaaaand …

Then the pianist came back from her break and mildly scolded me for not getting the “manager’s permission” to play the piano.

And then I left.

And met up with the kids.

And we went home.
